For the past several months, Patricia and Annie have been working on developing a photo-documentary/artistic project on the issue of human trafficking in Romania and possibly Moldova. Using documentary, artistic, and human rights activism tools, Patricia and Annie have a vision of collaborating with trafficked persons to expose places that enable trafficking and where trafficking is initiated. They wish to bring awareness to this growing problem in Eastern Europe in an intelligent, sensitive way. Trafficking in Romania has been a big problem since the 1989 end of communism, and it's taken on new vigor after Romania joined the EU in 2007 and border control laxed, after a several-year decline.
